Exercise 5 - Elements of Design - Space - Illusion of Space in Art

There are many techniques used for the illusion of space in this piece, including : 

- Overlapping : Few people in the front are standing in front of others (the ones with full contour lines) so they are closer.

- Size : People in the back appear to be much smaller than those in the front, making their positions farther away.

- Vertical location : the people placed higher in the pictures as well as the buildings and trees are the ones farther away.

- Atmospheric perspective : is seen with the mountains at a distance they are colored lighter indicating that they are really far away,

- Linear perspective : this can be seen with the floor tiles, they are extending towards the vanishing point at the center.
